We are excited to announce that the first film to feature at the Cinema Now festival is titled “Ti imaš noć“ (You Have the Night), written and directed by Ivan Salatić.
The cast that carries the exceptional visual range of this film consists of Ivana Vuković, Momčilo Pićurić, Luka Petrone, Nikola Stojanović, Nikola Manojlović, Jasna Djuričić, Boris Isaković and Marko Štibohar. The director of photography is Ivan Marković, the editor is Jelena Maksimović, the sound recorder is Nikola Medić, the sound designer is Jakov Munižaba, and the film is produced by Jelena Angelovski and Dušan Kasalica.
The film had its world premiere in 2018 at the prestigious Venice Film Festival. Not long after that, it won the grand prize at The Auteur Film Festival in Belgrade.
This film deals with the microcosm of contemporary suburban Europe. It follows the lives of people who live on the margins of society as a result of constant political and economic transition at times when uncertainty and poverty have become a regular occurrence reserved for this part of Europe.
After the company which she works for files for bankruptcy, Sanja finds herself stranded on the ship and has nowhere to go but home. Like many other employees, she is left without a job when a storm arrives, as she finds herself at a critical juncture in her life.
The film “Ti imaš noć” was created as a partnership between Montenegro and Serbia, with support from the Doha Film Institute.
Cinema Now is a two-day pop-up festival scheduled for October 26 and 27 of this year at the Svilara Cultural Station in Novi Sad and is organized by Cinema City. The venue perfectly blends good music, good films, as well as an attractive, formerly industrial location which is now redesigned into a cultural zone.
So far the festival has announced the screening of Otvorena, Granny Project, Taurunum Boy, Zaposlena, Blossom Valley, Ti imaš noć, Teret, Zemlja meda and Aleksi, while more films are to be announced soon. The film selection will encompass some of the most interesting movies by younger authors from Serbia, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Slovenia, etc.
The entrance to the festival is free of charge, while it is recommended to reserve a place up front, to avoid large crowds and overall rush at the entrance.
The majority of the authors will be our guests during the two days of the festival, where one of our goals is to organize Q&A sessions after the film projections, as is frequently done during the Cinema City festival.
The project Cinema Now is realized by Cinema City in cooperation with the Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture Foundation.
