Promena Theater was first established between 1978 and 1979 at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. Among the first founders were prominent artists (Miša Belegišanin, Radoslav Milenković, Haris Pašović), all students of the famous Bora Drašković. They had a need for founding a student theater because their plays were equal to the then-wide scene of the former SFRY with their quality and the performances of Promena were featured at all relevant festivals throughout Yugoslavia. The later generations again, in accordance with their possibilities, founded the theater. However, it would always be closed again, when a group of students completes their studies.
The first goal of newly-founded Theater Promena in 2015 is to never be closed again, to continuously serve the students of the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad as a sort of mechanism for learning the “craft”, and to cultivate a serious, harsh approach to creative work, which the first generation of Change had set, resulting primarily in quality performance and satisfied audience.
