Young artists and producers from Hungary and Serbia – do you know each other?
Our cross-border cooperation project “Kaleidoscope of Contemporary Culture and Creative Industries” is just starting! In cooperation with Serbian and Hungarian associations and institutions Cinema City, Kulturanova, Kép-Szín-Ház and Maszk, we decided to strengthen cooperation between contemporary cultural and creative scenes of Hungary and Serbia.
What exactly are we going to do? We will introduce 70 young managers in culture and artists, that is, we will enable them to talk, show each other what they are working on, develop new ideas, think about their audience, and how to expand it… and all that through workshops, lectures and socializing.
We want project participants to strengthen their professional competencies, art production and transfer knowledge they have with other participants. We will include in the project “Kaleidoscope of Contemporary Culture and Creative Industries” 50 cultural managers and producers from Serbia and Hungary, as well as 20 young artists from the world of film, music, literature and visual arts, as well as audiences from the region, in order to improve communication between cultural operators in our two countries, strengthen the connections that already exist and make new projects in culture.
In addition, we want to create a platform for the promotion and cooperation of young artists, with the popularization of female artists.
The project “Kaleidoscope of Contemporary Culture and Creative Industries” is realized with the financial support of the European Union through the Interreg-IPA Cross-border Cooperation program Hungary-Serbia. The project budget is 207,470.26€, of which the EU financed 176,349.72€.
We will connect artistic scene of Serbia and Hungary, here’s how
One of the activities of the project “Kaleidoscope of Contemporary Culture and Creative Industries” is Producers Forum 1.0, which means that there will be another such forum! We will gather 25 cultural managers, producers and young artists in Novi Sad and Szeged to discuss their established professional relationships, assess project activities and results, as well as the effects of cultural exchange and make recommendations for further improvement of cooperation.
And what is happening between these two activities?
Artistic residence in Novi Sad, where at least five musicians, video artists and visual artists from Hungary spend a week in Novi Sad in order to experiment, connect with local artists and create something with them, contributing to the contemporary art scene.
Experiences from Serbia will be adopted by an organization from Hungary MASZK Egyesület and will be implemented in the next art residency there. Just like in Novi Sad, at least 5 artists from Serbia will spend a week in Szeged, get acquainted with their local scene and work on joint activities. Everything that artists create during the residences in Novi Sad and Szeged, will be presented at promotional events in both cities.
In addition, we want to show local audiences in Szeged and Novi Sad what is happening on the Serbian and Hungarian contemporary art scene – who are young, quality and innovative artists that we need to watch and nurture, what they do, what ideas inspire them and why. We will do this through this website, but also through events in which the audience will be able to get acquainted with artists from the neighboring country.
Where will you find out all the information about our project “Kaleidoscope”?
The cross-border cooperation project “Kaleidoscope of Contemporary Culture and Creative Industries” implies not only cooperation with the organizations from Novi Sad and Szeged, in order to strengthen collaboration between the contemporary cultural and creative scenes of Hungary and Serbia, but also that all those that are interested in art learn what it is happening on the other side of the border, and how cooperation fosters the creation of new ideas.
You will be able to find project information on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Flickr… We will present artists, their works, ideas and inspirations there. On posters, which we will put on the entrances to cultural institutions and important sights of the cities, you will find out about project activities.
We will also work on brochures about the project, partners and activities; we will make a guide for producers; we will present artists and their works; and we will analyze the results of online research on the degree of cooperation among the cultural actors in Serbia and Hungary.
Of course, you will be able to learn a lot about the project in traditional media as well!
