The International Documentary Film Festival Beldocs presents more than a hundred premiere titles from May 8 to 15 in Belgrade, 16 of which are competing. Besides competition program there will be music, biographical and artistic documentaries, a selection from the modern Portuguese documentary film, as well as the retrospective of the Japanese author Kazua Hare and Goran Dević from Croatia. During the past eleven years, the Beldocs Festival has become the most loved spring festival of documentary film that gathers the best achievements of contemporary documentary.
Serbian competition program includes six films selected by art director of 12th Beldocs Marko Grba Sing and selector Igor Stanojevič, whose themes range from the band Električni orgazam (Electric orgasm), through the arrest of members of the falun gong in Serbia in 2014, young people from Zemun, Roma hip-hop to the Sava Center and Syrian refugees in Berlin.
According to the selectors, these are brave films and although they all have different topics, they have one thing in common – they all contain some kind of truth and are all quite specific.
Serbian competition program includes biographical film about the band Electric Orgasm, directed by Marija Vukić, „Taurunum boy” which films teenagers from Zemun during a summer break, directed by Jelena Maksimović and Dušan Grubin, „That’s What I Am – Gipsy Mafia” which says a story about the band Gipsy Mafia and lives of band members, directed by Andrijana Stojković, „Center” – an experimental documentary about the Sava Center, directed by Ivan Marković. The film „Children of the Spring” by Dušan Solomuna is studying the issue of Syrian refugees in Berlin, while „On the black list” by Sara Marković and Nikola Dragović follow the Falun Dafa members and their arrest in Serbia in 2014.
